Your PC crashing while printing due to Windows 10 updates.

Microsoft released patches KB5000802 and KB5000808 earlier in March 2021 for Windows 10. These updates are part of the March 2021 cumulative updates. Computers that have received these updates have seen an interesting issue after applying the update; Windows is crashing when trying to print. Some sources are saying that it is only with networked printers, but here at Rose Computers we’ve seen the issue with a non-networked printer. What is also known as the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) is displayed with the stop code APC_INDEX_MISMATCH after trying to print with the installed updates. Not all printers and computers have this issue.

Microsoft has now released additional security updates to fix the blue screens when printing. However these updates are optional updates, meaning they will not be installed automatically. The updates can installed by using the Check for updates button in Windows. These updates are KB5001567, KB5001566, KB5001568, and KB5001565 for Win10 v2004/20H2, Win10 v1909, Win10 v1809 enterprise/education/LTSC 2019, and Win10 v1803 enterprise/education respectively.
